Program Details
The program begins with the arrival of all students at our cabin in Big Bear Lake, California the evening of Sunday, June 24, 2012, and concludes with a formal concert in Irvine, California the evening of Saturday, June 30th, 2012 at 7:00pm
Throughout the week, students meet for 5+ hours of rehearsal each day with their assigned string quartet. Coaching sessions with faculty are alternated with individaul practice time, and a communal performance class each day gives each ensemble a supportive environment to develop their playing skills in front of an audience.
In addition to making music, we also incorporate some fun local outings, including activities at Big Bear Lake, hiking in the National Forest, and a visit to the Alpine Slide at Six Flags, one of the most enjoyable activities on the moutain.

Audition Requirements
The Chamber Music Workshop is an
advanced component of CYOSC's education program.
Students who wish to participate will need to
demonstrate a strong command of fundamental playing
skills on their primary instrument, as well as present
the following during a live audition:
1. Three excerpts from the standard string quartet
repertoire of Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. These
excerpts will be available for download in February of
2012.
2. Sight-reading of a short work with CMW faculty
members.
Students who do not meet the minimum skill level
requirements for CMW will be invited to participate in
our "Introduction to Chamber Music" day-camp later in
the summer.
